The new cryptocurrency from the creator of ChatGPT has already raised $115 million dollars

Worldcoin, the crypto project co-founded by Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, has successfully concluded a Series C funding round, raising a substantial sum of $115 million.

Prominent investors such as Blockchain Capital, a16z, Bain Capital Crypto, and Distributed Global participated in the funding round. Although Worldcoin’s exact valuation is not disclosed, this significant investment further solidified its position in the cryptocurrency market.

Worldcoin will use the capital raised to advance the development of its World App, a crypto wallet application designed for the project’s ecosystem. In addition, the company aims to explore and create innovative applications, including a collaboration with Optimism.

This funding round comes at a time when investment activities within the market have moderated relatively due to unfavorable conditions. It has drawn attention for its unique user identification process that involves scanning the retina using a specialized device.

Although the project emerged in 2021, it recently picked up momentum following the success of OpenAI and ChatGPT, bringing Sam Altman significant recognition in the broader tech and crypto communities.

While no token launch date has been announced, Worldcoin has already amassed a user base of 1.7 million worldwide. However, technical limitations have hampered the desired coverage of Worldcoin eye scan identity verification.

Worldcoin Series C Funding Spurs Innovation

In particular, there has been a market in China where verified Worldcoin user information from Cambodia and Africa trades for as little as $30 per account.

This growing interest in the project highlights its growing popularity. Worldcoin emphasizes strengthening its verification mechanism to prevent the illegal buying and selling of user information.

Overall, Worldcoin’s successful Series C funding round and its continued efforts to improve its identity verification system demonstrate the project’s commitment to innovation and growth within the cryptocurrency industry.
