Now there is an opportunity to create a digital twin that visualizes trends and patterns based on updated geographic data. It is useful for property owners and others who work with physical objects and infrastructure. – The technology can both save time and money while ensuring the quality of operations and increasing sustainability, says Oscar Monell, Customer Success Manager at Esri Sweden. A digital twin is a constantly current and updated virtual representation of reality. It can include physical objects, processes, relationships and behaviours. Esri Sweden offers the solution ArcGIS, a software that is used globally today and that creates the conditions for a digital twin that also includes geographic data. It can be about infrastructure, topography, soil conditions, weather, air quality, noise and much more. ArcGIS can combine dataThis data can in turn be combined with data such as demographics and statistics. Because all the data is stored in layers, it can easily visualize conditions in a location and create clear data that can be used to make better decisions in the private and public sector. For organizations that manage physical objects, such as authorities, municipalities, property and infrastructure owners , there are big profits to be made in areas such as finance, time, environment and sustainability. – When you have data that is also constantly updated, you can make modeling and predictions. You can see which areas are flooded by heavy downpours, or how wind and sunlight are affected if you erect a large building on a site. It will affect consumption of electricity, district heating and district cooling. Then you can make the right investment decisions, says Oscar Monell.Esri Sweden creates insights that provide benefitsFor property owners, it can be about streamlining operation and maintenance, for example in case of error reports from various systems. – When you have full control over all objects, all routines around operation and maintenance and it is well documented, you can save on travel and transport. In the end, you get a higher quality of operation and thus a longer lifespan of the objects, says Oscar Monell. The data that ArcGIS uses to generate a digital twin is often already available from authorities or other actors. Sometimes it is open and free of charge. – The actors who collaborate on data and seamlessly exchange it in real time get really good results. It will be a win-win for everyone, he says. Esri Sweden can help organizations refine data to create a digital twin. – We are very used to helping put together this foundation of data for our customers. If we do not already have the data, we can collect it from various actors or from our partners. For example, we can ask our partner to take pictures from airplanes or drones, if that type of data is relevant to the customer’s needs, concludes Oscar Monell.
