Rewards for Justice is the State Department's established counter-terrorism rewards program by the 1984 Act to Combat International Terrorism. The bureau is managed by the Diplomatic Security Service. “The objective of the FRY is to bring international terrorists to justice and prevent acts of international terrorism against US persons or property,” describes its website. The announcement further reveals that the Rewards for Justice program has paid more than $200 million to more than 100 people around the world since its inception. The program "created a whistleblower tips channel through the Dark Web (based on Tor) to protect the safety of potential sources," noted the State Department. The announcement adds that Rewards for Justice it is also “working with interagency partners to enable rapid processing of information, as well as the possible transfer and payment of rewards to sources”.
