COSEL launches new series of compact 2″x3″ power units for demanding medical applications

admin

Medical applications require robust and reliable power units that can operate and meet safety standards around the world. Based on its many years of expertise, COSEL has developed a platform with optimized flyback topology that provides excellent price/performance without sacrificing quality and reliability. The UMA series can be fed with an input voltage between 85 and 264VAC and has a typical efficiency of 91% at high line. The UMA30F is currently available for four single output voltages: 5V/3A, 12V/2.5A, 24V/1.3A and 48V/0.65A. The UMA60F is available for five voltages: 5V/6A, 12V/4.5A, 15V/3.5A, 24V/2.5A and 48V/1.25A. The output voltage is fixed as standard from the factory, but for applications requiring adjustable voltage there is option “Y” with a potentiometer for adjustment. The UMA series has limitation for current surge at the input, overcurrent protection and overvoltage protection. With their robustness and versatility, the units can work in ambient temperatures from -20 to +70°C. Depending on the application design and cooling conditions, a derating may apply. With its focus on medical applications, the UMA series has isolation input to output according to 2MOPP, input to FG (Floating Ground) according to 1MOPP and output to FG according to 1MOPP. The devices are approved according to ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1 and EN60601-1 3rd Edition. Body Floating applications require a patient leakage current of less than 100 µA, and with its value of 75 µA, the UMA series is an excellent choice for such applications. The UMA series meets the following standards: ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1, EN60601-1 3rd, C-UL ( corresponds to CAN/CSA-C22.2 No.60601-1), UL62368-1, EN62368-1, C-UL (corresponds to CAN/CSA-C22.2 No.62368-1) and EN60335-1. To meet application-specific requirements, there are three options; adjustable output voltage (Y), connection terminal (T), and for applications with additional safety requirements there are UMA30F and UMA60F with reinforced insulation according to IEC class II (E). The UMA30F has the dimensions 50.8 x 21.7 x 76.2mm [2,0 x 0,85 x 3,0”] (wxhxd) and weighs a maximum of 80g. The UMA60F is only 2.5mm higher (24.2mm) and weighs a maximum of 120g. The UMA series has a five-year warranty and complies with the European RoHS and low voltage directives. With its combination of small format, excellent price/performance ratio and high quality, the UMA series is an ideal power supply solution for demanding applications in not only medicine, but also for test and measurement equipment as well as industrial applications including electrical appliances for the household sector and similar areas.Current links:
