Binance of the United States, one of the largest brokers in the world, has just announced that XRP trading will be discontinued on January 13.
“Users of Binance.US will not be able to deposit the XRP from January 13, 2022 at 10am EST. XRP withdrawals will not be affected at this time. ”, Said the broker in a note published today (12/30).
The exchange clarified that the removal will not affect the Spark token (FLR) airdrop in 2022. Users who had XRP on the platform on December 12 will receive free units of the new currency. XRP rose with the airdrop announcement, but soon went into free fall with the recent SEC charges.
The lawsuit filed against Ripple put the legal security of brokers that trade XRP at risk, since if XRP is indeed considered a security, no exchange would be authorized to allow trading on its platforms.
In Brazil, brokers are still waiting for the process to unfold, Ripple will still defend itself in court and may reach an agreement. On the international stage, Binance.US follows in the footsteps of Coinbase, Bittrex, Bitstamp and others that have already announced the interruption of negotiations. Global Binance continues with the listing.
