About St Thomas's Street

The Museum is located in a red brick Church on the north side of St Thomas's St. The street marks the southern boundary of the Hospital Grounds and the Church's Parish was the Hospital. Both Church and Hospital were rebuilt in 1703 by Thomas Cartwright.

St Thomas's St was the home of John Keats and other medical students in the 19th Century and also the home of several medical instrument makers such as Down Brothers.

The Museum is found at the top of a rickety spiral staircase in the barn-like roof space of an old Church. Continue the tour into the Herb Garret, and then into the Operating Theatre.

the Interactive Tour of the Museum is a 360 Panoramic Tour of the Operating Theatre and the Herb Garret. It was programmed by Stuart Franey using Java.
